Defense Minister Benny Gantz informed the High Court last week that he was canceling the defense establishment's initiative to allow Jews to purchase land in Judea and Samaria privately.

The Haaretz newspaper, which reported on the cancellation of the initiative, said that in recent years there has been a discussion in the defense establishment designed to repeal the law in Judea and Samaria, according to which only Jordanians, Palestinian Arabs or "foreigners of Arab descent" are allowed to purchase land as private entities, while Jews are only allowed to conduct real estate transactions through companies and with the approval of the Civil Administration.
