Justice Minister Gideon Saar is initiating a move for Israel to join the Istanbul Convention to Combat Domestic Violence.
In a letter sent to Foreign Minister Yair Lapid, Minister Saar requested that his officials contact the Council of Europe and submit a request on behalf of Israel for an invitation to join the Convention.
Once the invitation is received, the Minister of Justice intends to bring to the government a draft resolution ratifying the Convention.
