The chairman of the US Army Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, referred to the launch of China's hyper-sonic missile, which was announced a week ago, and said it was a "very worrying incident, reminiscent of the moment the Russian satellite Sputnik 1 was launched."
Milley is the most senior figure in the U.S. administration to date to have addressed the missile launch.
