Maj. Gen. Amos Gilad, former head of the Defense Ministry's political division, addressed the issue of Iran in an interview with Galei Tzahal.
"The Iranians are adding more and more capabilities to harm Israel. The Americans are advancing in the diplomatic option, and the Iranians understand from this that they can continue on their way. On the other hand, the strategy of canceling the nuclear agreement has failed and requires rethinking," Gilad said.
Asked whether the global Blue Flag exercise would deter Iran, Gilad replied: "I do not recognize a real and operational alliance in which forces from around the world will attack Iran. Unfortunately, the military option rests with Israel. We really need the Americans."
