Responding to the decision of the State Prosecution to close the case against a Jewish man from Lod who fired a weapon at Arab rioters earlier this year, MK Ofer Kassif, the sole Jewish member of the Joint List party, condemned the move.
"Settlers from the racist core-group arrived from the occupied territories and came to settle in Lod and inflame the situation there," he said. "Now the Prosecution wants to bring the laws of the Wild West that are in effect in Yitzhar, to Lod - effectively saying that Jews can do whatever they feel like doing.
"We must put a stop to the huge budgets that are handed over to these racist core-group people," he continued. "We should be supporting cooperation between people, not murderous and racist separation."
