Tzvi Gur, who was convicted of the murder of eight-year-old Oron Yarden in 1980, died last night in Assaf Harofeh hospital.
Gur had been terminally ill for some time, and last Wednesday, the Israel Prisons Service parole board granted a request for his early release on medical grounds. The prosecution then announced its intention to appeal.
Gur, 74 at his death, served 41 years of his 45-year prison sentence for the kidnap and murder of Yarden.
