Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau, a former Chief Rabbi and currently the head of the board of Yad Vashem institute, is to greet German Chancellor Angela Merkel when she arrives in Israel next week.
Speaking to Reshet Bet this morning, Rabbi Lau noted that Merkel "stood at our side to help us and excelled as a friend of Israel. During the two hours of her visit to Yad Vashem, she requested to be left alone for some time in order to ponder what she had seen there."
