Dr. Yoav Bichovski, the director of Soroka hospital's ICU, described the situation in his hospital to Galei Tzahal this morning.

"Out of the thirteen patients in the ICU, just two are fully vaccinated," he said. "Two are elderly, with severe comorbidities, and they have relatively mild cases of the virus," he added.

"Our main need now is for ancillary staff," he noted. "We've been taking nurses from other wards and are also trying to limit the number of non-essential procedures we perform. The problem, however, with taking nurses from other wards is that it takes a long time to teach them how to deal with seriously ill patients - it's a matter of months."
