The United Nations has issued a warning that Afghanistan is in urgent need of financial assistance if crisis is to be averted.
The UN's special envoy on Afghan issues, Deborah Lions, stressed that financial aid needs to reach the embattled country soon, "in order to prevent the economy from collapsing and with it, the entire social structure."
