Tonight (Sunday), Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi called President Isaac Herzog and wished to congratulate the president personally on his inauguration and the people of Israel on the upcoming holiday of Rosh Hashanah.

The two leaders discussed bilateral issues and the common interests of the two neighboring countries.

President Herzog thanked the Egyptian president for the important role he plays in striving for stability and peace in the region.

"The conversation took place in a positive and warm spirit and at the end, it was agreed that they would continue to keep in touch," the president's spokesperson said.
