IDF brigadier general (Ret) Michael Herzog has been appointed Israel's ambassador to the US. Herzog had previously served as an International Fellow of The Washington Institute. From September, 2006 to October, 2009, he served as chief of staff to the IDF's defense minister.
Herzog has been deeply involved in the peace process, including his participation at the Wye summit, Camp David, Taba agreements, and others.
"Congratulations to incoming ambassador to Washington, General Herzog," tweeted FM Yair Lapid. "Looking forward to joint work alongside our most important strategical ally, the U.S.," he added.
