MK Bezalel Smotrich (Religious Zionism) has sharply criticized the government for its handling of the hospitals crisis. Several of the country's state-run hospitals are currently operating on a "weekend" basis, due to severe financial deficits, with the Finance Ministry allegedly having reneged on a promise it made six months ago to allocate millions of shekels to cover basic needs.
"The Finance Ministry has reneged on the agreements that it signed and is now making a mockery of the hospitals in suggesting that they agree to receive just a sixth of the sum needed," Smotrich said. "No one can expect the hospitals to continue to provide medical treatment when the government does not allocate an adequate budget," he added. "The Ministers of Finance and Health need to sort this out immediately."
