A NATO official has stated that over 18,000 people have already been evacuated from Kabul, Afghanistan's capital, since the Taliban organization seized power.
The official added that huge numbers of people are continuing to reach Kabul International Airport, the last remaining exit route from the country, desperate to board a flight out.
While the airport itself is being secured by the US military, the rest of Kabul is in Taliban hands and those heading to the airport have no guarantee of being able to reach it safely.
