MK Ophir Katz has submitted a bill for a total tax exemption on grants to athletes from the Olympic Committee. Today, under the Income Tax Ordinance, female and male athletes are required to pay a 35% tax on their prize money.
According to MK Katz: "An entire country holds its breath with the victory of each and every one of our athletes. They practiced for these moments for a long time and invested countless resources. They constitute national pride. It is not possible for the state to levy a tax on the small remuneration they receive in relation to their large investment. We must take care of our athletes and encourage them to continue to excel in their field. "
