Following the opening of the State Commission of Inquiry into the Meron Disaster, the ombudsman suspended the criminal investigations.
"The Attorney General told the committee members that following consultations [...] he decided that at this time, the continued criminal investigations being conducted in connection with the disaster event will be suspended - the police investigation and the investigation of the Department of Police Investigations," the attorney general said in a statement.
