Early this morning police received a report of a man who broke into an apartment in Rehovot and attacked the resident with a stun gun, as well as trying to inject him with a syringe full of an unknown substance.

The victim woke up in time to fight off the attacker, and managed to force him from the apartment. The victim was eventually taken to Kaplan hospital for medical attention.

Police who arrived at the scene began collecting forensic evidence as well as searching for the vehicle in which the perpetrator fled. A short while later the suspect was arrested on his way to Jerusalem. Initial investigations indicate that the background for the incident was a personal dispute.

The suspect, a 37-year-old resident of Kiryat Ono, will be brought before a judge after Shabbat.
