Speaking on Reshet Bet this morning, Gen. (res.) Amos Gilad, formerly head of the state-security department within the Defense Ministry, discussed rumors of a clandestine meeting between Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and the Jordanian King, Abdullah II. According to a report by Walla Thursday, Bennett traveled to Amman last week to meet with the Jordanian monarch at the royal palace.
If confirmed, the meeting would be first between an Israeli premier and the Jordanian king in more than five years.
"If the meeting did indeed take place, it will have made a very important contribution to Israel's strategic place in the region," Gilad said. "During the term of the previous government, relations with Jordan disintegrated, and improving them should be a national priority."
