A month after Operation Guardian of the Walls and following a diplomatic effort by Ambassador Erdan and the Israeli delegation to the UN, the UN adopted a counter-terrorism stance that unequivocally opposes the use of human shields by terror groups.
The UN resolution also condemns the use of the Internet as a tool for encouraging and recruiting terrorist operatives and calls on Internet providers to take responsibility in the matter. Erdan has been credited for leading the initiative since the beginning of his term as Minister of Internal Security, and continues to do so as Israel's representative to the UN.
