Defense Minister Benny Gantz responded to the withdrawal of the Israeli Defense Service Law, which was supposed to be put to a vote in the Knesset.

"I had to withdraw a very important law tonight aimed at preventing women who made a false statement about their religiosity from evading service in the IDF. This means that the committee that could have abolished such exemptions will be disbanded, and we in the defense establishment will be left without the tools to deal with the phenomenon."

"I am very sorry that the Likud party and other Zionist parties are harming security and encouraging draft evasion. As Defense Minister, I will include the professional teams, and we will examine how to act on the issue in the coming days," said Minister Gantz.
