An amendment to the law of the Committee for the Appointment of Judges, submitted by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Matan Kahana, was approved today at a cabinet meeting and at the Ministerial Committee for Legislation.

The amendment to the law will anchor equality between men and women among the elected members of the committee while allowing the Knesset and the government more room to maneuver by allowing the appointment of two ministers as representatives of the government and two MKs, or vice versa.

Under the direction of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, Minister Kahana intends to formulate in the coming weeks a number of moves that will lead to the appointment of more representatives of Religious Zionism in Israel's religious services.
