MK Moshe Arbel (Shas) has submitted a question to PM Naftali Bennett, asking why the Defense Minister is apparently authorized to order the evacuation and destruction of a settlement without a go-ahead from the Prime Minister.
"During the previous administration, authorization from the Prime Minister was required in order to evacuate any Samarian settlement prior to evacuation," Arbel noted. "Is the Defense Minister really permitted to make such a decision - one affecting 50 families including women and children - on his own?
Arbel added (basing his words on expert opinion) that, "Within the area occupied by Evyatar, there are extensive grounds (around 98 dunams, which is most of the area) that should be considered survey land, where no evidence of cultivation and possession can be identified. Some of these areas served as a military base until the mid-1990s."
