Responding to reports emerging from the United States that the Biden administration intends to cancel the recognition the previous administration, under President Donald Trump, accorded to the Golan Heights as part of Israel, Minister of Internal Security Omer Bar Lev appeared to play down their significance.
"The Golan Heights did not become any more Israeli just because [former US President] Trump decided they were," Bar Lev said, "and they won't become any less Israeli if that decision to recognize them is walked back now."
