Israel Prize winner Prof. Yehuda Liebes resigned from the National Academy of Sciences in protest against the appointment of Prof. David Harel as President of the Institute.
"The academy is no longer national, but is a closed sect of the enemies of its own people," Leibes said. In 2018, Prof. Harel signed a letter calling on the German parliament to cancel penalties for BDS activists.
