Shimon Yisrael Elhadad, whose two brothers perished in the disaster in Meron, welcomed in an interview with Galei Tzahal (Army Radio) the announcement by the Minister of Religious Affairs, Matan Kahana, of the establishment of a state commission of inquiry into the disaster.
"Definitely encouraging. After a catastrophe of this magnitude, the obvious and expected thing would have been for a committee to be set up as early as the following Sunday morning. It is unfortunate to see how everything in the country is swept into petty politics. Our goal is not to have heads rolling, but to prevent such a situation from happening again. We want to have representation on the committee," said Elhadad.
