It has recently been revealed that Prime Minister Netanyahu has asked members of the Likud party to lie to the media regarding negotiations with Mansour Abbas. Likud MKs replied that they do not intend to lie to the public, saying "the public is not stupid."
This came to light when an argument broke out between Minister Miri Regev and Deputy Minister Yoav Kish. Regev accused Kish of saying in media interviews that the Likud was negotiating with Mansour Abbas; Kish countered that any negotiations were simply to garner support for the possibility of a direct election for Prime Minister.
