Defense Minister Benny Gantz responded to the GSS chief's announcement, saying: "As I said last week, public leaders have a special responsibility, and it has been recently proven that we have not learned the necessary lessons from past events."

"Anyone who tries to deny the legitimacy of our basic, democratic laws and ignites the fire of incitement must bear responsibility for doing so. I call on each and every such individual, to refrain from any encouragement of violence. This is the time when all public leaders must come out publicly, decisively, and actively against violence in general and against political violence in particular."
