The White House has announced that it will beginning shipping out surplus coronavirus vaccine doses next week, Reuters reports, following a pledge by President Biden to provide 80 million vaccines to countries abroad.

"We are sharing these doses not to secure favors or extract concessions," Biden said. "We are sharing these vaccines to save lives and to lead the world in bringing an end to the pandemic, with the power of our example and with our values."

The vaccine doses will go to countries in South America as well as Southeast Asia and including India.
