Nahariya Hospital has announced that there has been further improvement in the condition of Elad Barzilai, 37, from Acre, who was brought to the medical center about two and a half weeks ago in a very serious condition, anesthetized and on a respirator, after being injured during a riot in his city.
Elad's condition is defined as moderate and stable. Pursuant to the improvement in his condition, Elad was transferred from the neurosurgical intensive care unit to the general ward.
Dr. Samuel Tobias, a senior physician in the neurosurgical department who has operated on Elad twice so far, said he has started walking around the department, interacting with his environment, recognizing people, and moving his limbs.
The hospital notes that Elad receives treatment from a multi-departmental staff, which includes doctors and nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, communication clinicians, and the nutrition unit.
