Finance Minister Israel Katz has sharply criticized his fellow Likud party member Nir Barkat for planning to host a large meeting of activists next week.
In his own address to Likud activists, Katz wrote: "The meeting that Nir Barkat is organizing in order to present his vision for leading the country is something unprecedented in the history of the Likud as directly opposed to a serving prime minister. It is also utterly superfluous, in light of Prime Minister Netanyahu's ongoing efforts to establish a Likud-led government."
In the wake of Katz's protest, Barkat has invited the Prime Minister to attend the gathering.
