Deputy Education Minister Meir Porush (UTJ) has appealed to the Prime Minister to stop the arson attacks on synagogues in the "mixed" Arab-Jewish city of Lod.
In a letter addressed to Netanyahu, Porush wrote: "I have been asked by rabbis and hasidic Rebbes to request of you that you order police forces and those under their authority to accord special protection to synagogues and bring an end to the shameful situation in which our religious sites are attacked by rioters. It is a national embarrassment that Arab rioters have succeeded in burning down five synagogues in the last few days."
