A large number of police officers, both current and retired, have volunteered their services to police chief Kobi Shabtai, given the current need to restore order to a large number of hotspots within the country, in the wake of escalating Arab-Jewish violence.

In a meeting that was held between Shabtai and a committee comprised of former police chiefs, former police chief Karadi Moshe presented an outline according to which former police commanders would be recruited in situations such as that prevailing now, when police reinforcements are needed in many areas and over an extended period of time, in order to act in an advisory capacity and give the benefit of their experience.

In response, Shabtai stated, "I appreciate the clear plans and goals as well as the offer for former police officers to give the present generation the benefit of their years of experience, in our efforts to deal with the current situation."
