A former head of the anti-corruption task force in the State Comptroller's Office has criticized the way in which the government is approaching the question of investigating the Meron disaster in which 45 people died, asserting that "The State Comptroller has no authority to conduct the investigation."
Yaakov Borovsky told Galei Tzahal this morning that "I do not believe he can undertake this task, and I do not believe that he can provide the public with what it deserves - that is, to thoroughly investigate the State itself. The decision of the Attorney-General himself in the matter is also suspect."
