After PM Netanyahu's decision to appoint Likud MK Akunis to the Justice Ministry was stuck down by the Supreme Court, the Prime Minister decided to abandon his nomination in favor of appointing Gantz to the position.
The PM said that while he had proved the validity of the appointment in statements to the court yesterday, the decision to appoint Gantz had been made to avoid the ongoing political imasse.
