Regional Cooperation Minister Ofir Akunis (Likud) spoke at the Knesset plenum marking Herzl Day, urging the Knesset's parties to cooperate with each other.
"The path of personal boycotts was not [Theodore] Herzl's path," Akunis said, adding that "in the spirit of his Zionist dream," all of the Zionist groups, which had "deep and existential" differences between themselves, "knew how to overcome it for the sake of the higher goal of founding the State."
"From here, today, I call in the name of the Israeli government and in the name of my movement, the Likud, which continues Herzl's vision, on all the Zionist forces to join together at this time when the State of Israel is being tested, for the sake of our country's future."
