MK Simcha Rothman (Religious Zionism) was asked during an interview with Reshet Bet if his party would support direct elections for prime minister.

"When there is a concrete proposal, we will sit and talk about it," he said. "Right now it is at the headlines stage. So long as there is a solution which will save Israel from its political crisis, we will support it."

Regarding the refusal to sit with the United Arab List (Ra'am) and its leader MK Mansour Abbas in a coalition, he said: "We will not move from our position. A government in which the one tipping the scale is Mansour Abbas is not a government led by [Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu, but one led by Mansour Abbas. We will not sit in such a government."
