According to media sources, a doctor for imprisoned critic of Russian President Putin's, Alexei Navalny, currently on his 3rd week of a hunger strike, said his patient was "on the verge of death."
The physician was quoted as saying test results performed by the inmate's family showed he was at high risk of cardiac arrest and was suffering from impaired kidneys.
“Our patient could die at any moment,” he said in a Facebook post.
Navalny's personal physicians have not been allowed to treat their patient even though he has lost feeling in his legs prior to going on hunger strike. Russia’s state penitentiary service, however, alleged Navalny was getting sufficient medical attention.
