In preparation for Memorial Day, the National Insurance Institute reports that the number of civilians killed in terror attacks since the declaration of the state, 5 Iyar 1948, to date is 3,158. This includes 120 foreign nationals killed in terror attacks and Israel, and 100 Israelis killed abroad.

In the past year, since the last Memorial Day, two civilians have been killed in hostilities: Esther Horgan and Rabbi Shai Ohayon.
