Al-Akhbar reports that Marwan Barghouti has rejected Abbas' offer to give up the Palestinian Authority "presidential race" and is expected to declare himself a candidate soon.
According to the report, Abbas proposed to Barghouti, who is serving a life sentence in Israel, to give up running in the "presidential election" in July in exchange for leading the Fatah list in the May "parliamentary elections."
