Defense Minister Benny Gantz spoke tonight (Thursday) with his French counterpart, Florence Parly, in light of the prosecution's decision to open an investigation against allegations of Israeli "war crimes" in the ICC.
Gantz told Parly this was a political move and that Israel was a democratic state with its own independent investigative and judicial institutions.
He also asked Parley to help Israel in the case based on the realization that putting the Jewish state on trial doesn't just skew reality, but may harm the ability of other democracies to fight terrorists and other organizations targeting civilians.
