Israel's coronavirus projector, Prof. Nachman Ash, told 103FM radio that the upcoming Knesset elections would play no role in influence a decision to impose new lockdown directives.

"The reopening of the economy planned for Sunday was scheduled a few weeks ago. We were very hesitant to initiate it because while we're meeting our goals, the disturbances on Purim took us a few steps backward," Ash said.

Ash added that a fourth general lockdown could be implemented prior to the election. "We will have to wait and see how the virus progresses over the coming two weeks. We may well recommend such an option," he pointed out.
