US ambassador to the UN, Linda Thomas-Greenfield, attacked the Syrian government's handling of the civil war in the country.

"The U.S. stands with the Syrian people, Syrian civil society, and international partners in demanding accountability and supporting a political solution as set out in UN Security Council Resolution 2254. We cannot let the courage and persistence of the Syrian people be in vain," she wrote.

And, "We commend the UN Syria Commission for its report documenting a decade of mass detention and torture by the Assad regime. We will continue to press for arbitrarily detained Syrians to be released consistent with UNSCR 2254, and will prioritize accountability for human rights abuses in Syria," sharing a video decrying Assad's atrocities.
