The heart and lungs of soldier Yonatan Granot, who was killed in a shooting accident in the Jordan Valley, have been transplanted into two individuals hospitalized at Shiba Tel Hashomer Medical Center.
For the first time in Israel, two lungs were transplanted into a patient, a 53-year-old man who had been connected to a heart and lung machine for many weeks after being infected with the coronavirus.
The soldier's heart was transplanted into a 63-year-old man who had been living with an artificial heart for a number of years.
Both transplants were successfully completed this morning.
