The IDF returned two shepherds to the Red Cross via the Quneitra crossing in accordance with the instructions of the political echelon.
The shepherds were taken into custody by the IDF in recent weeks within the scope of army operations east of the border fence with Syria after they intentionally crossed into Israeli territory.
The move comes after a major breakthrough was reported Wednesday in negotiations to free a 22-year-old woman from the haredi city of Modi’in Illit, who accidently crossed the frontier from Israel into Syria in the Golan Heights and is being held captive in Syria.
