Following the announcement that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has appointed National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat as the special envoy for the issue of contacts with the United States and the superpowers, Blue and White are demanding the cancellation of the appointment or alternatively adding another representative on behalf of Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, reports the newspaper Maariv.
According to the report, Gantz and Ashkenazi's entourage say of Ben Shabbat: "He has no background in the Iranian issue, he has never dealt with it, he does not understand English and is not connected to senior Biden government officials. As long as we are here, we have no intention of letting Netanyahu turn this critical issue into his private property. National security is an asset of the State of Israel, and it must be treated with care and determination."
