The Knesset's Constitution Committee approved an amendment to the regulations restricting entry and exit from Israel, according to which entry through Israel via land border crossings will be allowed only through the Jordan River border station (Sheikh Hussein) and only to those who left Israel through the same border crossing.
Entry will only be allowed with the approval of the Exceptions Committee - at set times to be determined in order to regulate the number of entrants for reasons of public health. The committee explained that currently the approval is for twice a week, for two hours at a time. Regulations already today restrict entry to Israel through the airport and maritime border crossings and stipulate that anyone entering Israel through them must obtain approval from an Exceptions Committee. Regulations are valid until February 20.
In addition, new regulations were approved regarding the obligation for corona inspections at the entrance to Israel through land and sea border crossings, in addition to the inspection obligation that already exists today for those entering through the airport. Regulations are valid until March 9.
