The Health Ministry central laboratory for viruses detected an additional 14 cases of South African variant. One had previously been infected with coronavirus and was re-infected with the African variant. To date, 44 verified South African variants have been traced. Also, 124 of their verified contacts were found in 36 infection chains.
The Health Ministry continues to conduct an extensive nationwide survey among COVID carriers to examine the spread of variants spreading in Israel through genetic tracking. Also, they are examining aggregating cases in the Triangle and making efforts to examine the extent of spread in the area.
