The Minister of Defense, Benny Gantz, accepted the recommendation of the Director General of the Ministry of Defense, Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Eshel, to recognize the causal link between being in enemy captivity (more than a month) and four diseases: arthritis (rheumatoid and inflammatory), osteoporosis, peripheral neuropathy (which broke out within 5 years of captivity) and cirrhosis of the liver.

The decision of the Minister of Defense will make it possible to recognize as an IDF disabled person anyone who has been held captive for more than a month and has contracted one of these diseases.
