Israeli police continue to increase activity against weapons offenses in the Arab sector. In January, police arrested 586 suspects across the country for weapons and firearms offenses - an increase of 36% over the same period last year. More than 90% of the suspects arrested are from the Arab-Israeli sector.
173 indictments were filed against defendants for firearms and weapons offenses nationwide - an increase of 78% compared to January 2020. More than 85% of indictments filed in Israel last month for firearms and possession / trafficking / use of weapons were filed against defendants from the country's Arab community.
