In a paper written for the Begin-Sadat Center for Regional Studies, scholar and former IDF Intelligence officer Mordechai Kedar has stated that there is strong evidence of recent secret contacts between Israel and Syria over Iran.
According to Kedar, Syrian President Assad, who invited Iran into his country to oust ISIS and to help him in the civil war, now wants Iran out of Syria and in order to to so he must enlist Israel's assistance. This would explain secret contacts that have reportedly taken place between the two countries.
