The Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef, paid tribute to Rabbi Gedaliah Schreiber, who passed away at the age of 93.
"I received with great sorrow the news of the passing of my friend and friend of my family, the late Rabbi Gedaliah Schreiber, who served for many years as Director General of the Chief Rabbinate and the Ministry of Religious Affairs and headed the Jerusalem Religious Council.
"Rabbi Schreiber stood fearlessly on the ramparts of our faith and was a unique Jew, beloved by G-d and the people. The Chief Rabbinate of Israel owes to him its prosperity and development in recent decades."
